Elegy

Chad Gardella - Elegy

My friend Chad was directing a film and the second he asked me to help I was in. Basically I had never worked on a horror or thriller project before so I was in it to win it. I helped shoot for several days and handled most of the vfx work and supervision.

The 2 biggest shots I'll share are the "face paint and track" and the "icky bug shot" ... you have been warned

This was the official synopsis:

A film, in the wilderness gothic tradition, set in a crumbling estate, where strange visions and paranoia afflict its occupants. A passage from Edith Wharton's short story 'Afterward' might serve as character description for the largest set piece in the film, the house; '...She would never know what had become of him -- no one would ever know. But the house knew; the library in which she spent her long, lonely evenings knew. For it was here that the last scene had been enacted, here that the stranger had come, and spoken the word which had caused Boyne to rise and follow him. The floor she trod had felt his tread; the books on the shelves had seen his face; and there were moments when the intense consciousness of the old, dusky walls seemed about to break out into some audible revelation of their secret. But the revelation never came, and she knew it would never come. Lyng was not one of the garrulous old houses that betray the secrets entrusted to them. Its very legend proved that it had always been the mute accomplice, the incorruptible custodian of the mysteries it had surprised. And Mary Boyne, sitting face to face with its portentous silence, felt the futility of seeking to break it by any human means...It was the house itself that possessed the ghost-seeing faculty, that communed visually but secretly with its own past; if one could only get into close enough communion with the house, one might surprise its secret, and acquire the ghost sight on one's own account.'
