After years of procrastination I finally updated my reel. This is a compilation of work I've done over the past few year featuring spots where I was most likely the editor, lead compositor, mograph artist and VFX nerd.
For three decades, the Javits Center has served as a showcase for iconic brands and a launch pad for new ideas. With an upcoming expansion, the Javits Center will be able to provide dynamic new spaces for meetings, receptions and major events, including a rooftop terrace with sweeping views of the Hudson River, enabling the facility to attract a new generation of customers to the Empire State and increase jobs for New Yorkers.

So a friend of mine hit me up to help the FrameIO make a cool promo video for the Dreamstation Giveaway! I was responsible for some of the tracking and roto work needed to replace all the screens. Even though I didn't win this was a super fun project to work on.
I was fortunate enough to be brought on to an independent feature film called Vitality directed by Joel Mitchell. As the film is still in circuit I won't spoil anything about the film. He had a vision for several VFX shots and one of these was several eye replacement shots. It was alot of fun and I can't wait to share everything else I worked on when the film has it's full release!

A little while back I was approached to help with this project but it wasn't exactly what I expected. I was tasked with digital cleanup for Alicia Keys and Maxwell. As apprehensive as I was to start painting up Alicia Keys' face it was a fun project and a special thanks to Josh Gross (the director) for hooking me up with the gig.

The Consumer Electronics Show, or CES, is the world’s largest consumer tech trade show. It showcases advancements in technologies which affect people as consumers, citizens, and individuals. CES began in 1967 and this week marks its 20th show. This year, Kilograph had the chance to be a part of it. I was brought on board soon after. As most of this is still under NDA I am limited by what I can show at the point. To respect Kilograph's trust and wishes all shown media is from their public blog
On January 9th, Jim Hackett, CEO of Ford Motors, took to the stage to give Ford’s keynote speech. He spoke about the concept of “The Living City,” and how we can use transportation — something that historically defined our cities and is now seen as a barrier to community — to “take back the streets” for living and connectivity. Ford is looking to the future where a cloud platform could control transportation across an ecosystem of driverless vehicles, bike share programs, and city services all in an inclusive manner where, according to Hackett, “the benefits of community can be experienced by more people, across many backgrounds.”
While Hackett spoke, the expansive 122 foot LED screen behind him began to come alive with The Living City and this animation revealed the evolution of the “City Of Tomorrow.” A blue background morphed into an outline complete with sky and clouds, and from there a fully rendered collage-style environment was revealed. Experts from the Ford team provided examples of how these new data networks would help promote an interconnected community of people: promoting safety, decreasing congestion, and increasing freedom.
Kilograph was honored to be part of a diverse team of creative individuals and visionary companies, all of whom came together to create the stories for this keynote. In conjunction with Ford, Civic Entertainment Group, Experimental Design, and creative director Alex McDowell, Kilograph provided digital set design, animation, and data visualization. We used a combination of 2D and 3D animation to create the collage style Living City, and were collaborators in establishing both the look and styling of the City. Experimental Design, together with Toy Robot Productions, directed the animation. They also produced the green screen videography, composited, edited, and created graphics, sound design, and watch out programming for the project.
In addition to the Living City collaboration, Kilograph was contracted by Ford and Imagination Labs to create a unique animation for the immersive experience that was the Ford Stand. The graphic we created was placed on a twenty foot tall, 118 foot wide LED screen. This was integrated into the environment through use of a road set, traffic signs, Ford’s Smart Bench, live performers, and autonomous cars.
We were thrilled to collaborate with these visionary thinkers on a project with such an important and timely mission: “If you can change the street you can change the world” – Jim Hackett

Neoscape collaborated with RXR Realty to develop a repositioning campaign for this midtown Manhattan property. To communicate a message of transformation, our team created a series of assets with a modern, minimal look and feel that refer back to the building's new glass base, bright new entrances, and the "jewel" that will be the atrium. The cinematography is subtle, yet precise, focusing on angles that are analogous to the building's new identity. Gentle, methodical camera moves were used to create a mood that is modern and clean.

My friend Chad was directing a film and the second he asked me to help I was in. Basically I had never worked on a horror or thriller project before so I was in it to win it. I helped shoot for several days and handled most of the vfx work and supervision.
The 2 biggest shots I'll share are the "face paint and track" and the "icky bug shot" ... you have been warned
This was the official synopsis:
A film, in the wilderness gothic tradition, set in a crumbling estate, where strange visions and paranoia afflict its occupants. A passage from Edith Wharton's short story 'Afterward' might serve as character description for the largest set piece in the film, the house; '...She would never know what had become of him -- no one would ever know. But the house knew; the library in which she spent her long, lonely evenings knew. For it was here that the last scene had been enacted, here that the stranger had come, and spoken the word which had caused Boyne to rise and follow him. The floor she trod had felt his tread; the books on the shelves had seen his face; and there were moments when the intense consciousness of the old, dusky walls seemed about to break out into some audible revelation of their secret. But the revelation never came, and she knew it would never come. Lyng was not one of the garrulous old houses that betray the secrets entrusted to them. Its very legend proved that it had always been the mute accomplice, the incorruptible custodian of the mysteries it had surprised. And Mary Boyne, sitting face to face with its portentous silence, felt the futility of seeking to break it by any human means...It was the house itself that possessed the ghost-seeing faculty, that communed visually but secretly with its own past; if one could only get into close enough communion with the house, one might surprise its secret, and acquire the ghost sight on one's own account.'

How do you compress one hundred years of history into a minute. That's what our client asked of us, as part of the marketing package for 230 Park Ave, the Helmsley Building, an icon of the New York skyline. Built in 1929, part of the golden age of Manhattan skyscrapers, the Chrysler Building and Empire state would be complete in the years following.
